Hi guys,

I have Emax II zip file (this Alan Wilder disc). Any ideas how I can convert them to ESI 4000 format? I have more or less all the necessary stuff (SCSI cables, CD drive, etc.) but somehow couldn't manage with ESi Win (as it doesn't read the file from Zip Drive).

Many thanks.

Chicken Systems Translator can convert emax format for Esi samplers

Do you have access to an ESI 4000? If so, the 4000 can import Emax II banks directly from an Emax II-formatted SCSI device, like your zip disk in the zip drive. Apolgies if you already knew this!

thanks a lot people, but;
1- chicken does not support Emax to ESI (as far as know)
2- my problem is, the Emax I have is 4 MB but there are some samples more than that which are impossible to load to Emax. The ones below 4MB are transferred directly from Emax to ESI.

Chicken Systems Translator can convert emax formats for Esi samplers, but you first you must mount your zip image in daemon tools so that it sees Chicken Systems Translator  it like scsi and then you can convert in any format supported by Chicken Systems Translator.

I tried and it doesn't work. At least in the version I have it says something like not supported. Anyway, the problem is solved. Just needed to read the manual CAREFULLY. You can import the Emax II banks from SCSI zip drive directly. But the trick is, it doesn't load the files directly when you choose zip drive as the source. You need to choose import option under master. And only 1 SCSI device must be connected. My initial set up was ESI+EMAX II+ZIP. That is why it didn't work.
Well, great to have all the banks now. Even found walking in my shoes and world in my eyes presets under some banks..!!

 How do the Alan Wilder Depeche Mode banks sound in an ESI compared to the original EMAX II? Is it that much of a difference?

In an ESI 32...Brighter!

Answering question on top. In ESI 32 you can import Emax II disks directly. I understand the same occurs on ESi 4000...Just plug the Zip Drive to ESI 4000 and Import Emax II disk. finally if you want, save it.
