...... today i'm stuck with a problem on my new favorite : a lovely EIII keyboard.

It first started with an empty EIII that I bought a few months ago on some local sales I could not resist to the looks of it (Smiley.

I was planning to do something that could sound foolish to most of you:
>>Fit an EIII Xp inside it with a generiq keyboard matrix , could sound pretty dumb but hey...

A few week's ago I couldn't believe it : there was a full set of boards on ebay!

Some of you already know the seller: Synthmeister.de> the guy behind the (wheel) IC that allow the 8mb upgrade!

What a fary tale! but this is where it gets existing ans difficult:

on the cpu board one critical chip is missing:
it is the IC 27; a PAL16l8A;  the Cs pal for chip select and it's a nightmare to find it.
(synthmeister.de is stil selling the ic needed to do the memory update but he doesn't have a EIII anymore)

If someone can help me that would be fantastic!

I'm not even looking for the chip itself but the jedec data inside it!

i already mailed Vintage planet and EPR about it but they can't help (no stock)if you know a service shop that could have the data...

As i'm working in a compagny specialised in transportation signal ;I have all the needs to flash chip, I could also provide copy of some chip to the community...

I'm after any chip/data/ boards that could help me to solve the problem /Money reward of course!

ok,more than I knew.
That probably explains the problems I´ve been having with my CPU boards.

So if we get the data file we can use a ordinary PAL16L8A and flash it
Will a ordinare eprom burner do?

Yes That's waht we have to do.

it would be great to have that data stored for the future...

EMULATOR III - Version 2.0
EPROM type: 27128B
Label: IP381A EMU SYSTEMS 4088
Location: Lower left corner of the CPU board
download here

yes I saw that, but didn´t know it was the same for the PAL.

well so just the rip the info of working PAL´s and save the data.

Two if my faulty CPU boards(surely the PAL´s) is now  at Niko´s and he also got a working unit there.
I talk to him and see if he can get the data out the working unit.

Hi Philippe.69

I'm working in a compagny that design electronics solutions for transportation.
Here I have all the equipment needed to copy chip or even to build new boards.

It would be great to buy or borrow the chip /a cpu board/....but I know the one you have now is from a client.

Lets be patient one will maybe pops-up on internet or at your work.

If there is no other solution I'll come to Lyon but it is not going to happen soon.
I'm going to ask my collegues if they have knowledge on how to deal with the protection.

i already mailed EPR with no luck I'll try sovemam.fr today

thanks to all of you Ill keep you posted!

thanks Philippe but I already tested EPR (http://www.eprelectronics.com/store/E-mu-Keyboards-PARTS-c1/)

(one week ago)

The Proprietary chip (like Fchip or other) are protected but the small ic like the PAL16l8A shouldn't.
(even if protected it can be hacked but it will need some work so I'm not qualified to do> my coworkers have that knowledge)

i'm going to make copy of some other eIII chips to mesure the difficulty, and to see if the data is protected.

I'll post the results and the extracted data.

It will be difficult for me to come to Lyon soon but i keep that in mind.
It would be easier for me to send you the tool.
you'll need a windows 98 pc with a serial port...
