Hi

I'm about to install a SCSI sd card reader in an Emax ii rack but when disconnecting the floppydrive the unit does not boot up because of the floppy seek.

Is it possible to install a jumper on the floppy connnector in order to bypass the floppy seek like on the later E4 line of samplers?

If not, are there any other solutions to use the Emax II without a connected floppydrive?

Best regards

I did this on my EMAX, but EMAX II has a different floppy drive (I think). So it could be a different pin.

Hi Wolfram

Thanks for your reply.  Smiley

Please do tell which pin to short circuit on the Emax. I need to do the same on an Emax rack as well.

Best regards

Hi

Today I managed to boot up my Emax II on a SD card without the noisy harddrive and also without the floppy drive installed.

Here goes:

I found a scsi cable with 2 outputs and I connected both the harddrive and SD card reader. With the floppy drive installed the Emax II booted up after a few attempts.

I formatted the SD card and turned off the Emax II when the verifying process started.

I inserted the SD card in my pc and via the emxp software I made an Emax II harddisk image on my local pc harddrive. I filled the harddisk image with Emax II banks and instructed emxp to install the harddisk image on the SD card.

I inserted the sd card in the Emax I and booted up again and instructed the Emax II to copy the software to the sd card and turned off the Emax II again.

Then I disconnected the noisy harddrive and also the floppydrive. I installed the original scsi data cable again.

I installed a jumper on the floppy connector at pin 26. This bypasses the endless search for the missing floppy drive.

Now the Emax is very quit and boots up on the SD card.

Best regards
