Guys- I have tried everything to get this fucker to work. I need advice. So it mounts, I can rename it, disk info says 100 banks 99.1% free etc, BUT I cannot write software or even an empty bank to it. It either says 'no banks exist' or scsi hardware error depending on the configuration I have it in with jumpers and so forth.
EIII sees it, but I can't do anything with it. Pissed off and frustrated.

One thing : once you have formated, save IMMEDIATELY a blank banck onto the cartridge. DON'T TRY TO UNDERSTAND, DON'T EVEN THINK, JUST DO IT !!!  Grin
If you can't save, take the whole shit and format it onto a Mac, in classic mode (Maybbe OS9 will work but I usuall do it on OS 8.6.1 or OS 7.5.2.

After then, try to save some datas on the cartridge. Can you ? If you can, there is a provblem with the E-Mu, if you can't, then, the cartridge or the whole shit is dead. Its not because its brand new that it should work, you know....

I forgot : after then, if you can't use it on a computer, if it doesn't work, try to find a cartridge adapter unit, plugable on a computer (you know, that kind of box with multi format cartridges) and use the cartridge on it, to see if it works.
If it does, then use only the SCSI to IDE unit with a IDE hard disk, see if it works.

If it does, try to find another cartridge and test it on the computer, with you adapter, etc... In other words, make a crossmatch test, you will find the faulty unit. You can as well use an IDE disk on the EII instead of the cartridge, only to test if iteh converter with the EIII works, can't you ?

You write :

You tell that the drive will not work and you are going to change the brand of card.
Can you have a WORKING drive ? Or it is NOT WORKING, EVEN IF YOU CHANGE THE DRIVE ?

Fuck, this pisses me offf.... I can't believe it !

If the drive is NORMALLY WORKIN and it DOES NOT with the SCSI <>IDE converter, it means that the SCSI <>IDE converter is faulty, not yet the memory card !!!!

SO, what interrest to find a new card ?

In this case, find aother interface and have the drive working !!!!!!

80% if the service repair job is just a matter logic sense !!!!

Got it. Replaced the sandisk card with a 1GB Lexar and away we go! Reads/writes no problems at all now.
BTW Doc.c, if the SCSI IDE bridge was shot, I would not have been able to rename the drive and have it retain it's name.
Thanks for the comments though.
