Does anybody has experiance with the EIII Remote software?

It communicates with EIII over MIDI, right?

If yes, is there a documentation about the sysex-code. Want to fit my REGELWERK to control some parameters.

Every input is welcome Smiley

I remember having inquired some people, including Rob from the archive, to get the full MIDI specs of the EIII.
The answer was that no such document exists (anymore).

Of course it can be reverse engineered by sniffing the MIDI communication between Mac EIII Remote control software and EIII.
Combined with (probably) some compatibility or similarity with the documented SYSEX specs of the Emax, this should result in a usable SYSEX specification for the EIII.

This is something I was planning to do once I have a lot of free time :-)

The remote control for the EIIIx is based on the software for the EIII.
Checking it's sysex info could be of some help. (Provided that exists).

I found the software and the manual for it, if someone is interested.

The EIII remote runs on a MAC, as does the EIIIx version, perhaps it can run under windows via an emulator.
The EIII software had a dead link, but I guess I can get that too.

I have this kind of software for the Kurzweil 2xxx. It can be pretty handy I must say.

What it does: It sends the sysex codes for the buttons, so the EIII acts as if the button is pressed. The EIII also returns the LCD info some way.

Regards,

Peter.

Nope, it's the pdf, that can be found on emu's website and a .sit file for Macintosh. I don't know if it works, I don't use a Mac. Sorry.

If you give me your email-address, I can send it to you. It's only 370 kB.

I can't test it, so it would be nice if you let me know if it works. If it works I'll put it on the web for download.

Regards,

Peter.

These .sit files from EmulatorArchive I have already, but I simply did not succeed to transfer the decompressed files (by Stuffit Expander) from PC to my old Mac...  I wonder if someone could possibly explain the procedure - step by step - to an imbecile like me...

1.) Format a zip disk with your "old" mac.
2.) Use a modern mac to download the stuff.
3.) unstuff the stuff you downloaded on the modern mac
4.) connet a USB zip drive to the modern mac
5.) insert the old-mac-formatted zip disk into the usb drive connected to the modern mac
6.) drag'n drop the unstuffed stuff you downloaded onto the old zip disk
7.) load the zip disk on your old mac
8.) have fun

Smiley Many thanks for your valuable advice, I will follow these steps....  Smiley

But still, I am curious how the .sit files could be transferred from Win or Linux based PC (without a modern Mac) to the vintage Mac...

I use Transmac for this purpose, works really good: http://transmac.softonic.de/

I run both remotes, for EIII and EIIIXP, both with an old trusty Mac IIci.
