"As for termination: Termination should be set (jumper on HD) Termination power should NOT be set. The power comes directly from the EIII."

What is the brand and model of your hard disk ?

And don't touch the power supply, please....  Grin

so far ive tried 3 drives

-quantum plus impulse is written somewhere on drive that came with it
-tried quantum fireball 3.5 series and nothing ( i saw somewhere that it was incompatible anyway-after I tried it)
-also tried a mac classic HD Quantum pro drive-e3 says its not an e3 drive

Wait a second... when you tried the Mac Classic HD Quantum drive, the EIII recognized that the drive connected to that SCSI bus was not an Emulator III drive? That's a good sign! That means the EIII is seeing the Mac Classic hard drive, but the drive just needs to be formatted.

Hi,

I managed to configure my mac classic HD (all 40 mb) and it seems to be working ok.
Turns out my mac classic HD (which is a quantum pro?) needed a jumper pin.
I can now sample, truncate, loop, boot up from HD etc. on my e3.
Cheers and thanks for all the help!!!
until next time
