my emax floppy reads only, writing doesn't work anymore.
Seems that to be a small or big problem?
What can i do?

Hi,

i don't know what you call "a big problem" but i suggest you to check the floppy drive connector.
Unplug and replug, also you can use a contact spray like KF, F2.

If it still doesn't work it's maybe a problem with the lens.
So, try to clean it with a ear stick and à little bit of alcool.

But the best i think, is to replace your floppy drive.

thanks for your answers.

i'll check the points.

I saw an emax on a pic which has a atari st floppy inside.
you can get a atari from 1 to 5€...a route66 floppy with shipping to germany, custom and taxes will be nearly the worth of the whole emax

Replace the floppy drive.  Don't even waste your time trying to fix the floppy drive.  Make sure
your cable is connected properly.  You can use any floppy as long as it has jumpers that can be set to zero or one.  I don't remember.   I found a white Sony unit that does that and it works fine.  But 90% of floppy drives out there are fixed without ID jumpers.  So you have to search around.   I would order one from EPR if all else fails.  Don't bother with Route 66.  They'll take 6 months and that's if they actually send it to you.  If you call and ask them (richard at route 66) what happened, they'll come unglued on you, and insult you.   Search Google and you'll see that how they roll.

Good luck in your repair.

I removed the old drive an put a Epson SMD-380 from a Atari Mega ST1 into my emax.

All works fine, Atari was also DS0, so there is no need to change something.

Now i can Load AND Save again!  Grin
