Title: Simultaneous MIDI Triggering and Sync
Post by: rvankuran on January 24, 2013, 01:05:01 PM
Just got a model 7000 and am very eager to jam this baby along side my SP-12.

Seems there are 2 mods around.

1) External sync box
http://rebirth606.stormpages.com/MAIN.html

2) MIDI In triggering mod
http://home.earthlink.net/~kerrybradley/id9.html

Is it possible to have both external sync via DIN-sync converter to MIDI for DAW control and MIDI IN triggering?
Will the Drumulator OS version 3 allow for this in external mode?
Any thoughts and/or clarifications...?

-Thanks  :o

The Model 7000 I got had the MIDI option already factory installed.
Now I have figured out how to sync it to my SP-12 via MET. OUT and setting the Metronome to 'Click' on the segment performance module.
Saved about $600 by using the SP-12 to sync instead of running out and purchasing an Innerlock Sync-Gen II.

In my case here is the signal flow for sync:

-Sync IO SMPTE Out (BNC)
to
-SP-12 SMPTE IN (1/4") - SP-12 MET OUT (1/4")
to
-Drumulator Clk IN (RCA)

Just set the start frame in the SP-12 and have both drum machines waiting for external sync then hit go from Pro Tools.
Thanks Forat for helping me sort this out.

MIDI clock is too jittery and I'm never looking back now...  ;D
