Title: EII+ Booting problem
Post by: rediatek on June 18, 2009, 04:18:43 PM
Dear Emu Masters

Please help me out here if you may.

My EII+ isnt doing what it supposed to. I have recently turned it on after a year break.  It powers on ok, then it goes to booting mode, then asks to insert disc, when I insert disc either red light
comes on but does nothing, the lights flicker, if you tap the panel
some will stay on. What maybe an issue here? Do you think it needs a cleaning?

Thanks a lot
Redi

STOP EVERYTHING !!!!

1) - Unplug your machine from the mains.
2) - Take off the power supply, look under, the solderings of the Molex connector
3) - Take off the solder, put new one
4) - Clean the connector contacts
5) - Refit the power supply
6) - Power without a disquette

The two lights of the disquette readers shoud lit fastly one after each other, around every 750mS. If yes, put a disquette, if not, let us know.

I posted this on another thread.
the first segment of memory chips must work for boot to happen. the MT4264 chips are failing. these type of memory chips are rare and are at there end of life expectancy.
IC12 to IC20 need to be good. the rest hold patch and sound data
