Title: Replacement Hard Drive for Emax HD?
Post by: monsterz on August 23, 2012, 08:48:10 AM
Hi
I have just bought a nice Emax HD keyboard. It came with no floppies. The hard drive is incredibly noisy and only works intermittently. Are there any replacement hard drives available for the Emax?
Thanks

There are certainly no new drives that will replace the internal HD, but with a bit of hunting on Ebay, you can find suitable SCSI HDs (Ideally sub 100 Mb).

The most favoured method is to replace the drive with a SCSI PCD-50 card reader and to use small capacity compact flash cards, but these are becoming harder and harder to find..

It may also be worth checking your PSU. As these age, they will start dipping voltages on the output rails and this can often be the cause of a HD spinning down.
