Title: Booting from Floppy Drive in 2 Seconds
Post by: dfiorucci on July 21, 2018, 09:56:46 PM
If you don't really use your floppy for anything other than initial bootup because you load banks using either Wolframs EII Editor or Sound Designer for EII it's possible to do your initial boot from the floppy drive in 2 seconds.
The trick is to have a blank library disk with the software version that you want to boot into in the drive.
I've done this for many years when using Sound Designer and now Wolframs EII Editor.

Never knew that... How to copy OS without a soundbank?

He made a Library disk not bank disk.

My solution was to modifying the bank so it stopped loading, but a library disk seams to be more easy.

Any chance to make a library disk as HFE file to boot up with the HXC floppy emulator?

Of cause.
If you have just the HxC drive use format from the "Disk" menu.
If you have two drives you have to disable the second otherwise the EII will format the second drive.

Ok... So I have to format the SD Card from the HxC Emulator as Library Disk.
But can I still copy my .hfe banks from PC/MAC to the SD Card or is it in a proprietary format?

Man!
make a copy of any EII.hfe on your SD card and name it for example "quickBoot.hfe".
Now select these disk image on you HxC drive.
Choose "Disk" menu on you EII and choose "Format" (8).
Now press "2" to format it as Library disk.

Have fun?

If you got an error while formatting you must update your HxC firmware.

I was able to format a quick boot OS3.1 HFE image.
If any one needs it let me know.
Thanks,
