Title: The right main analog output weak and heavily distorted... Post by: lubb on April 04, 2011, 02:54:55 PM Hello,
I am sure it is caused by some failure on the board with analog outputs/inputs: when I swapped the board for another (from my second EIIIX) the problem was gone... Both the XLR and the phone jacks (only the RIGHT MAIN output) are affected.. Thank you for any ideas... Title: Re: The right main analog output weak and heavily distorted... Post by: dr.c on June 24, 2011, 01:36:29 AM Is there a big audio "Thump" whent you connect or disconnect the audio cable ?
I don't have the schematics of the audio output. Anyone has it ? Title: Re: The right main analog output weak and heavily distorted... Post by: lubb on June 29, 2011, 12:37:24 PM Yes, there is a big audio thump when I connect or disconnect the cable... Moreover, I have observed that there is either a total silence with some occasional clicks, or a modulated whistling and crackling noise with heavily distorted, hardly recognizable, sound...
The silence and the whistling are - as it seems randomly - alternating... Thanks for your care, dr.c. Title: Re: The right main analog output weak and heavily distorted... Post by: dr.c on July 04, 2011, 10:58:54 AM Does the "thum" occor on other outputs ?
If not, it means that the output op amp of this specifi output isd dead. Make a picture of the board, near the output plug, and I will try to tell you. A CLEAR neat picture, please. send it to my email Title: Re: The right main analog output weak and heavily distorted... Post by: lubb on July 09, 2011, 01:53:40 PM On the other outputs there is the thump as well, but much much fainter than on the faulty one (RIGHT MAIN ANALOG OUTPUT).
I am sending the picture of the board to your email... Many many thanks... Title: Re: The right main analog output weak and heavily distorted... Post by: roginator on May 31, 2022, 03:56:05 PM schematics of eIV analog board are almost same on output stage as EIIIX
Title: Re: The right main analog output weak and heavily distorted... Post by: OB8 on June 15, 2022, 02:55:52 AM I had trouble with the large (60 way?) ribbon cable which connects main board to output board.
My unit was working perfectly, but during having the unit open to upgrade scsi drive etc, the output failed in a very similar way as you describe. Another possibility could be tantalum capacitors around the DAC on that board. Good luck! |
