E-mu Emulator Sampler User Forum for the EIII EII EI and EIII XP

Does anyone know of anyone who rebuilds floppy drives?
I know EPR and Route66 sells replacement drives but both of those places I am not a fan of anymore.   Plus, the one they sell will end up giving you a big gap as the fascia is different.    My drive still works but the spring seems to be hit and miss.  When I eject something the disk just stays there and I have to pull the disks out with needle nose pliers.   A few times I have taken the drives out and kinda re-lubed everything and it helps for a while.   But it would be nice to just have the whole drive rebuilt.  I know I can also find an old PC drive that are usually white (not cool) that have the ID pin jumpers that are selectable to 0, 1, or 2.   Or something like that.  In a box of old floppy drives at a salvage computer store you can usually find one in a box of 50 or so.  But as I said they are usually white or non working.   I've used those before in Emax rack units that I was selling but I definitely do not want to do that in a mint Emax 1 keyboard.   I want it to match and I want the original floppy fascia.

I need to research this.  I don't think anyone is really doing them.  I do know of one guy but I will have to send it out.

Jay,  wont the skinny drive create space like I am trying to avoid?

Here's an Emax I've been messing with. It's got the VFD, card reader and slim floppy. I put Emax II buttons in for a cleaner look.

It's the main reason I went with the card reader because I didn't want the space/gap in there.
Does your Emax have SCSI James? I guess this would be useless if not.
