I think the trouble is not in the size of the screw, but in the thread of the screw... I faced the same problem when closing one E-mu vintage machine... In the store told me the thread of the screw I need is of non-metric type which is very hard to locate nowadays... You'd probably be fine with 1/4". I see some other 5-32 ones on Ebay that ship worldwide. Not much in the way of phillips pan head unfortunately.
