I 've made a floppy disk with omniflop and the os 2.42... I put this floppy in the emuiii , but i cannot launch ... I've read that a blank bank is necessary , but how put it in the floppy with the os , there is no enough space for it . Any Advices ? Best regards Ares Title: Re: OS EIII Post by: wirefall on June 07, 2012, 05:40:19 AM There should be the dedicated E III format, please search for it. I know that, because I'm the one who added this to Omniflop. :)
Title: Re: OS EIII Post by: ARES on June 07, 2012, 11:51:44 AM Thanks a lot Wirefall... i will try that !
I've format my floppy as said in the forum for emax , but it seems not to work . I'll tell you the news. Thanks for your suggestion . ARES Title: Re: OS EIII Post by: ARES on June 07, 2012, 01:28:10 PM No chance... I've tried all the format emuiii ( hd), emuiii(standard),emax... But my emu begin to boot and write'' booting from floppy'' and after 1 or 2 seconds look for scsi 1,2,3,....
What must i do ? :-[ Is my floppy at the end of his life ? Hope someone can help me ??? Title: Re: OS EIII Post by: vds242 on June 07, 2012, 02:39:18 PM If the OS makes an endless searching for SCSI, you have another problem!
The OS seems to work normal, but the OS couldn´t find a hardisk. Perhaps there are some problems with the termination of the internal harddisk, or the hardisk is faulty....... If the OS couldn´t find a hardisk, the unit won´t work...... Chris Title: Re: OS EIII Post by: ARES on June 07, 2012, 03:57:53 PM Thanks vds242 for your answer.
My hd is faulty , ( almost )for sure ... Your seem to say that the hd is necessary for the floppy to booting. But i've read here in the forum that even with a faulty hd, eiii can boot by only the floppy. So, what to think ?? ??? Title: Re: OS EIII Post by: jazzyjoepass on June 07, 2012, 11:49:00 PM Are you using a 1.44Mb floppy or a 800k floppy?
I use a 1.44Mb floppy and have to stick and cover the tab hole on the corner for Omniflop to recognise the disk. When using in the EIII, I have to unblock it. I'm not sure if this is relevant to you, but it's something I discovered. Title: Re: OS EIII Post by: vds242 on June 08, 2012, 02:07:40 AM Perhaps the EIII can boot with a faulty HD.
BUT I think the OS must recognize even a faulty HD for ending up the boot process. I think a good idea is to start another Thread, where you describes the "endless searching for SCSI during the boot process". Just my 2 cent! Good Luck! But the solution proposed doesn't work , ... Too :'( If the hd is the problem, i've to change it but, after a longtime trying to search one it seems almost impossible to have one for a normal price. I wonder if i put a compact flash, the problem would be resolved...? What do you think is bettervto do ? My eiii want to be alive and i haven't yet the magic solution to propose to it... But i MUST do it ;) Title: Re: OS EIII Post by: ARES on June 09, 2012, 09:08:52 AM UPDATE,
After some cleaning of some part of the beast, the hd was monted... Strange but ok ! Best regards Title: Re: OS EIII Post by: oe8ueuur on August 08, 2012, 12:42:12 AM Thanks so much for the reply, mg.
Here's the board info to make sure we're talking about the same one - if you could please confirm. Sounds like we are and I've definitely seen smoke. Everything else "looked" pretty good tho, so I'm hoping for the best there. I even ordered another hard drive - same make and model - Quantum Maverick to try as a replacement if it gets to that. I'll keep everyone posted for results.... ------------------------------ Lunettes Carrera Pas Cher (http://www.lunettesdesoleilenfant.net) |
