Title: EII vs. Prophet 2002 Post by: PX-7 on April 08, 2009, 11:40:16 PM Does anyone have both of these units to comment?
I need thick kicks and warm thick sampled chords on my next project and know where both of these units are for cheap. So can someone pipe in and give me their thoughts. A penny for your thoughts... I'm thinking the is pain in the ass to use compared to the EII. Am I wrong? Title: Re: EII vs. Prophet 2002 Post by: Escobar on April 09, 2009, 05:35:39 AM I have both EII and Prophet 2000/2 8) EII is easier to use/program than Prophet 2002 (in my opinion). But once you've learned the interface of P2002 it's really nice to play with. Go for the EII since it gives the thick 'n gritty sound suitable for drums and beats, but Prophet 2002 is worth to check out too. If you can, go for them both! i would get the prophet, because there is a highly respectable company that has spare parts and THEY use to work for Sequential:WINECOUNTRY.COM ;) Title: Re: EII vs. Prophet 2002 Post by: dvdborn on April 09, 2009, 02:43:07 PM I wish some ex-Emu employees would start a company like Winecountry.com.
Title: Re: EII vs. Prophet 2002 Post by: Escobar on April 10, 2009, 12:14:28 AM I ordered some parts from them for my P2000 yesterday, updating it to latest ROM version. I agree with you Dvdborn, it would be great if some former employees from Emu started something similar but I think it's too late. The WineCountry.com started almost right after the Sequential Circuits went down and the interest and spirit for the brand/instruments was still alive among the employees. I don't know if that is the same with Emu. Title: Re: EII vs. Prophet 2002 Post by: micromoog on April 18, 2009, 09:49:13 AM i had a p2002 too.
if it comes with a couple of good disks it will be a ggod start. making sounds from scratch is horrible (in my opinion), the best features are the unisono-mode and the vcf. the main reasons to sell mine were the UI without a useable display and the point that there is no image-software for floppies available. Title: Re: EII vs. Prophet 2002 Post by: sneakyalien on May 06, 2009, 01:22:22 PM I actually prefer the Emu for drums and beats and percussion and the p2000 for spacy pads and wierd trippy sounds.
Mapping sounds across the keyboard on a p2000 is a pain in the ass but is ok once you get used to it,The Emu II is alot easier to program. As everyone else has said if you can get both. Sneakyalien. |
