Title: Slider/Fader Replacement & Calibrartion
Post by: who on April 20, 2013, 02:33:02 PM
I bought new sliders from EPR and replaced all four in my EII.

http://www.eprelectronics.com/store/E-mu-Drum-machine-Command-Station-PARTS/E-mu-SP-12-Sampling-Percussion-Models-7020-7021-Turbo-/Slider-10K-linear-for-EII-SP-12-SP-1200-RC311-p27.html

The new sliders work except the data values do not extend as far as they should in both directions.  for example, when editing an envelope, the range is only 9 through 23 as opposed to 1 through 31.

Is there a calibration procedure?  Did I install the sliders incorrectly?

Thanks!

I found this post over on the Emulator II Yahoo group:

"In the FWIW category, after scouring through my EII I'm happy to report
that IC27, an ADC0809CCN that handles slider, both performance wheels,
and data from the footswitches was an *easy* $10 fix. Symptoms included:

*no significant wheel "range", regardless of settings
*incomplete list of menu items and data ranges using sliders A, B, C, D
*no sustain pedal functionality, etc.

U27 is socketted, so if you're careful with static, it's just a chip to
swap.

This EII always sounded great, but certain menu items weren't
accesible, except by SD.

Now they are!!

Cheers- Mark"

This may be my problem

If you buy replacement sliders pay careful attention to the solder lug numbering when installing:  The number configuration is different despite the layout looking the same as the old sliders.  I didn't didn't notice the difference and installed the new sliders incorrectly which resulted in truncated value ranges.

Big thanks to Sam at Syntaur for his help! (I did not buy my replacement sliders from Syntaur, but I will next time!)
