Title: My Elll Has arrived @ last!!! Post by: Sleepwalker on March 24, 2008, 11:59:25 AM Hey Elll'ers!
Especially dvdborn, please can you come to my rescue??? I've just received my Emu Elll keyboard & it looks fab!, The casework cosmetically is near mint condition! The back plate reads: Elll Emu Systems...In big bold white letters Is this an early model of the sampler? As I've seen 'Emu Systems' on the back in smaller letters / decals etc?!?!? The Model number is: 6081 with a serial number of: 0890663 I can't tell if it's actually a 4mb or an 8mb model? I know the 6081 was the '87 4mb version, but i was told it was upgraded to 8mb!!! Is there a way of doing this without powering the machine up??? The only thing is, just before i got it, the chap i bought it from powered it up & it blew the light fuses in his house! This really concerns me, also some of the screws on the back plate a a tad rusty along with the output washers, not all of them, only some of them ,but still, it's worrying the hell out of me! It's been in storage for three / nearly four years! The LCD cover looks dirty, but from the inside only!?!?!? I'm also missing a rubber foot from the base of the unit, the screw is absent & seems to be rattling around inside the Elll...(unless it's something else!) Does anyone know where I can get a replacement rubber foot for it??? It came in a full-flightcase that was made by Hybrid cases in Holbrook NY The sampler also came with an Optical Media external SCSI drive. I'm about to call my all seeing / all knowing keyboard tech wiz near Glasgow & get him to look at it Any help would be most appreciated Thanks guys... Don ;) Title: Re: My Elll Has arrived @ last!!! Post by: dvdborn on March 25, 2008, 05:41:38 AM Hi Don,
I've also got a model 6081 which was originaly a 4MB model, serial number 0380444. Mine says EIII in a large font on the back and E-mu systems in a small font above it and Emulator Three in a small font below it. If all your memory slots on the upper card are filled, you can be sure you have a 4MB model. If the EIII blows out the light fuses when powering up then there's certainly a short circuit. You're going to have to find out where the short circuit is located. 1. Use a different power cable than the one that came with the EIII 2. Check the wires that go from the power button on the back to the power supply. Are they loose? Do they touch each other, or is one of them touching the chassis? 3. Check the fuse that's located in the power button. This won't be the source of the short circuit but it needs to be working. 4. Check the fuses on the power supply. 5. Disconnect all the power cables that run from the power supply to the different components and try powering it on. Still having a short circuit, then the problem is most probably located on the power supply? You could also try disconnecting the cables that run from the power button to the power supply and see if it isn't the power button that's causing the short circuit. Be careful, the voltages can be lethal! BTW, I'm not a technician. Just an enthusiast EIII owner who's learned to keep his sampler working. If you want to clean the LCD you need to remove the front panel. That way you'll have access to the LCD screen and the inside of the plastic cover. David Title: Re: My Elll Has arrived @ last!!! Thanks for the info mate, i know your not a tech, but you seem to know your 'Elll' quite well, as with a few others on this forum, which i'm grateful for! My keyboard guy seems to think we can sort it out, hopefully! Funny thing about the graphics on the rear panel is that the 'Elll' is the usual size etc, but with the 'Emu Systems' stacked along side the 'Elll' logo (Emu, then systems under it) I've never seen that on another Elll before...any idea's as to why this is so??? Cheers... Don. Title: Re: My Elll Has arrived @ last!!! Post by: Elmbeatz on March 25, 2008, 07:10:18 AM post a photo, please!

There have also been EIIs with different decaling (left side, right side, early models had the psu's on the right hand side, etc... |
