Title: Any Benefit In Setting-Up An Old Mac with EII and EIII? Post by: who on January 01, 2025, 04:24:47 PM I have an old Apple 9600/300 and was thinking about hooking it up to my EII and EIII. The mac won't boot, so I have some troubleshooting to do and am wondering if it even worth the effort. Are programs like SoundDesigner, Alchemy, etc. useful today with the EII and EIII?

The 9600 is a powerMac G3 and it has a GeoPort. The GeoPort is a different concept of the serial interface which is not compatible with the EII communication. It sounds like you have tried using the EII with the 9600 and ran into the problem you described?
As for the E3, is there any point in trying to get it working with the 9600 and Alchemy, for example? I've never used any Mac sample editing software from the period.
