Title: EII Sound Swap - New freebies for forum members. Post by: JMP on October 03, 2010, 08:54:08 AM EDIT>
Original first post is below, just updating the whole thread to post the latest demo's of the 50 new EII soundbanks created in two batches of 25. These are under the categories of 'Analogue' and 'Pads & Digital' A selection of sounds from each are demo'd below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3UDLN1dUA8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzC0krpiukA ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original Post relating to different sounds: Put together a decent batch of sounds/samples for the EII, all synth based if anyone's interested in a trade for similar. Can supply in Sound Designer format. Not looking for any library, orchestral or sound effect type sounds, got loads of those. Anyone got anything interesting/decent they want to exchange just hit me a PM. ;) Cheers. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap Post by: Elmbeatz on October 07, 2010, 10:15:22 AM Could you please list / describe what kind of banks you got?
I'm very interested, although I do NOT have any banks besides the libraries that I could swap.. Thanks in advance, Elm. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap Post by: JMP on October 07, 2010, 11:00:43 AM Hi Elm, can't say mine are up to library quality (!) and most banks have only one or two sounds on. A few have several sounds on but many are only over a two octave range (particularly pads unfortunately):
Anyway, those I have over full or almost full keyboard range are: OBXa Pluck Juno 106 - Fat Depeche 1 & 2 (PPG type sounds) Mitzva Lead Others over mainly two octave ranges: Aeon String Ambient Ambient Background Atmos Atmos Pad Atmos Vocal Band Pass Pad Big Atmos Big Choir 2 Bright Pad Ching Deep Drone Eerie Electric String Electric String 2 Ethnic Ethnic 2,3 5 & 6 Ethno String Ethno Voice H String Misc. Bass (several) Virus A (several) Audio demo of each sound played from the EII (in the order above) here: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=9736742 If the link doesn't work go to the main music page and the demo is listed at the top: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=481080&content=music Title: Re: EII Sound Swap Post by: ProudEmaxOwner on October 07, 2010, 04:15:52 PM I am also interested. I think I only have factory, but I'll make a list up asap.
Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - with audio demo. Post by: JMP on October 09, 2010, 09:52:26 AM Just updated the sound list above with an audio demo. :)
So, anyone sampling and creating soundbanks on their EII's these days...? :D Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - audio demo. Post by: Elmbeatz on October 09, 2010, 10:32:03 AM link doesn't work ... :-\ :'(
Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - audio demo. Post by: JMP on October 09, 2010, 11:27:10 AM link doesn't work ... :-\ :'( Try clicking it more than once, it didn't work for me first time but did the second and third.... not sure why that's happening. You can also access through the main music page, the demo is listed at the top: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=481080&content=music Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - audio demo. Post by: seamonkey on October 10, 2010, 05:31:29 AM John, these are awesome, thanks for taking the time to post your demo.
I have to admit, every time I hear your demos, I once again get the Ell gas pains. However, I love my Elll, and space does not permit another large keyboard. I think the original, factory and third party samples have been passed around for quite some time, so it's nice to hear other samples for the Ell, other than the ones we're all familiar with. Are any of these samples, samples you have created yourself? I encourage other vintage Emu owners to sample some of their own sounds, and as JMP has suggested, creating a library of new sounds for all to use and enjoy. If I had an Ell I would jump all over your suggested offer of swapping sounds, and I'm a bit surprised there seems to be so little interest. Surely users must be doing their own sampling, rather than just using it as a sample playback unit. I am still in the early stages of learning my Elll, but hope in the future to be able to have some of my personally created samples to share. Thanks again John Btw, I believe Soundclick has been having problems for the last week or so, sometimes when I enter my page, I'm unable to play any uploads. Your link worked fine this morning. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - audio demo. Post by: Elmbeatz on October 10, 2010, 07:47:01 AM Great sounds!!! :P

I have to admit, every time I hear your demos, I once again get the Ell gas pains. However, I love my Elll, and space does not permit another large keyboard. Thanks Rick, sorry to add GAS again.. ! ;) Quote Are any of these samples, samples you have created yourself? The first two are taken from an old vintage synth sample CD I bought years ago. The next three are my own sounds programmed/modified on the Roland XP50. The remainder were a batch of synth WAV samples I picked up years ago from somewhere I can't remember, just a shame these had only one pitch of the sample provided. Quote I encourage other vintage Emu owners to sample some of their own sounds, and as JMP has suggested, creating a library of new sounds for all to use and enjoy. If I had an Ell I would jump all over your suggested offer of swapping sounds, and I'm a bit surprised there seems to be so little interest. Surely users must be doing their own sampling, rather than just using it as a sample playback unit. Has made me wonder this too.... topic has had a fair amount of views but no-one offering to trade sounds other than library ones. So, as it's unlikely Alan Wilder will offer me his original EII Depeche Mode samples in trade.... :D , when I've sorted a USB zip for the PC I'll get the Sound Designer files for these banks onto PC if anyone wants them for their Sound Designer compatible EII. I'm currently halfway through sampling my Elka Synthex sounds into WAV files. I may try sampling these into the EII if the quality is OK. Just concerned about looping pads with the short sample length time. This can be troublesome to achieve inaudible loop points. I'm saving that for a rainy weekend.... Quote I am still in the early stages of learning my Elll, but hope in the future to be able to have some of my personally created samples to share. Being in a similar position to you, I'd love an EIII but no room for two.. ! :-\ Quote Btw, I believe Soundclick has been having problems for the last week or so, sometimes when I enter my page, I'm unable to play any uploads. Your link worked fine this morning. I changed it..., the problem one was supposed to bring the player up automatically but was tempermental, thanks for the info. Cheers Seamonkey/Elm. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - audio demo. Post by: Elmbeatz on October 11, 2010, 02:09:49 AM I have my EIIs for two years now, and I have only little time to make music.
I've been sampling stuff for years before with my emax, sampling WAS my music. With the EII and its libraries, a whole new world opened up, and I was finally able to think about ANYTHING and then just play it with the library stuff. There are hardly any sounds that I'm missing in the libraries. But as JMP shows - there can be lots more ;) STILL I have done samples with the EII ::) I call them "Jupiter 8 Synth rains" just 2 or 3 banks though... But I'll get them into *.EII format and will share 'em, too. Cheers! Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - Two audio demos. Post by: JMP on October 31, 2010, 02:31:49 AM Let me know if those files are working Elm ;).
In the meantime, here's the second batch. :) Top of the page (as linking tool isn't working): http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=481080&content=music Apologies, but think I've duplicated a couple from the first demo. Otherwise, this one includes sounds from the Elka Synthex, Prophet 5, Roland V-Synth, XP50 & JP8080, Novation Supernova and Bit 1 synths. Also layered pads from a mixture of several. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap (updated) - Two audio demos. Post by: Elmbeatz on October 31, 2010, 07:18:56 AM Yeah, I'll let you know.
I haven't had the chance to set up my RS422 EII yet. It still may take a while.. But I bet the files work. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap (updated) - Two audio demos. Post by: JMP on November 09, 2010, 03:30:37 AM Been a slow start but a few trades now going forth....
Just updating my list of sounds over the full or four octave range: Cheetah MS6 (X18) Elka Synthex (X1) but more to follow... Bit 1 (X2) Roland XP50 (X4) Waldorf XT (X1) Presuming those I sent to Elm have worked (!) these are all in Sound Designer format on the Mac/PC. I expect any sent via PC will need their resource forks correcting when transferred back to Mac. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap (updated) - Two audio demos. But I don't see a reason why they shouldn't. I'd be glad if I already have had the chance to go check it, as well as to get my own few banks off the mac, I hope you apologize. But I WILL ::) and hopefully SOON. Greetz, Elm. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap (updated) - Two audio demos. Post by: JMP on November 09, 2010, 08:00:36 AM No problem Elm. I'll probably upload some to a file share site soon anyway for someone else to give them a try too.
Title: Re: EII Sound Swap (2nd Update) - New library demo. Post by: JMP on November 14, 2010, 02:32:48 PM Quote No problem Elm. I'll probably upload some to a file share site soon anyway for someone else to give them a try too. Link to free Emulator II sounds (not full key range) in Sound Designer format are here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/bxsttb569v8id19/JMP%20EII%20Shared%20Banks.rar There are the ones used in the first audio demo. Note - The resource forks will likely need changing (e.g. with Filetyper) on the Mac to the usual EII format before loading to the EII. Let me know if any problems. ;) Title: Re: EII Sound Swap (2nd Update) - New library demo. Post by: Dimensional Space on November 14, 2010, 11:39:01 PM John,
Good work. Posts like these are under appreciated. Nice job. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap (2nd Update) - New library demo. Post by: esynthesist on November 16, 2010, 03:28:22 PM I agree. These banks sound very very good !
The art of sampling... you've got it. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap (2nd Update) - New library demo. Post by: RobyMX on November 20, 2010, 11:22:32 AM I've got the full library sounds... Great!
They sound so good, very professional... You are a master in sampling, John :D It's incredible what can be done with the EII... Title: Re: EII Sound Swap (last update) - 50 new 'complete' EII Soundbanks. Post by: JMP on November 24, 2010, 12:54:01 PM Thanks above and to those that have got in touch to trade etc. Glad you like them. ;D
Last update here, as I've now completed 50 new soundbanks for the EII, each with between 1 -6 presets on them. They are arranged in two batches of 25 under the categories; 'Analogue' & 'Pads & Digital': Updated demo's are here featuring a selection of sounds from each batch (a few are repeated from an earlier demo): Analogue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3UDLN1dUA8 MS6 Deep String P5 80's Pop P5 Carpenter Pad Synthex Bass 2 MS6 Best Brass Synthex Grit Pad P5 P.Kiss Grind MS6 Lead MS6 Chip Lead Synthex Pad Pads & Digital http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzC0krpiukA Jarre Vous 2 Depeche Jarre Vous 4 V. String Ooh Pad Pwang Organ VS Elfin DM ETS Choir Bell Organ Haunt Voice Flange Pad Right that's me done now (!) anyone looking to acquire get in touch. ;) Those that have the first batch of sounds already will get the remainder as soon as I've got them transferred over to PC and sorted them out from the first ones sent over. Hope you enjoy. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap (last update) - 50 new 'complete' EII Soundbanks. Post by: seamonkey on November 24, 2010, 05:23:59 PM Nice work John, your hard work and persistence has paid off.
Someday your demos will be synonymous with any search of the Emu Ell. Heck if you google it now, your YouTube demos always come up first. :) Job well done my friend, and your willingness to share should be noted as well. ;D Title: Re: EII Sound Swap (last update) - 50 new 'complete' EII Soundbanks. Post by: micromoog on November 25, 2010, 05:36:38 PM very very awsome, John - great YT-demos of your Sound-Banks!!!
Synthex Pad in "Analogue.." is absolutly fantastic! Title: Re: EII Sound Swap (last update) - 50 new 'complete' EII Soundbanks. Post by: JMP on November 26, 2010, 02:30:02 AM Thanks, that one came out pretty well after a long time messing with the loop points. I'd tried a few others before it, mainly band pass filter sweep type pads but the looping 'pop' and extended key range per voice required for longer loops spoilt them.
As much as I love the EII, sometimes I wish it just had that bit more memory.... :-[ Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - New freebies for forum members. Post by: JMP on March 01, 2011, 02:42:40 AM Hi all, my latest offering demo'd at the link below, available free for forum members that have a Sound Designer connection.
http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10340054 Some have looped better than others (as always is the case). Eight banks, full key range and most with several presets as variations of the original sound. As soon as I've got around the limitations of Mac Disk test program (1MB max. file sizes) I'll upload a (.sit) format Mac file for anyone who wants to download them. ;D Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - New freebies for forum members. Post by: micromoog on March 02, 2011, 12:20:14 AM And the EII-Oscar 2011 goes to...

first respect for your work. It's fantastic! Same for esynthesist and his emxp! I am only a DPX-1 User and i am sorry to ask in my first post for the Sounds from the "Analouge" and "Pads and Digital". Do you have them for share, or are you not so far right now? The first ones worked very well in my DPX, converted with EMXP. Greetings Christian Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - New freebies for forum members. Post by: JMP on March 08, 2011, 12:07:35 PM Hi Christan, thanks for the comments. All of my soundbanks are in SD4E2 format and the last batch on floppy disk are currently on Ebay UK. I won't be putting anymore on disk as I want my last two drives to remain working !
I'll send you a PM with details to receive these electronically if that's what you're looking for. Cheers. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - New freebies for forum members. Post by: JMP on March 20, 2011, 09:57:27 AM Latest below:

Well done as always. You are an inspiration to vintage Emu sampler users everywhere. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - New freebies for forum members. Post by: JMP on August 25, 2011, 09:37:29 AM Cheers Seamonkey ;)
Had some contact that previous links to free sounds are dead, so PM if you want these. Latest demo'd at link below, includes one or two from the music demo above. Putting these on Ebay later if anyone wants on 5.25" floppy. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10988464 Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - New freebies for forum members. Post by: seamonkey on August 25, 2011, 12:42:58 PM hey buddy, your soundclick page isn't opening. Same with your floppy disk auction.
update: must be soundclick's homepage because mine isn't working either. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - New freebies for forum members. Post by: JMP on August 25, 2011, 01:22:36 PM Working for me fetler ;D
Here's the auction, give it a try ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250880623341?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - New freebies for forum members. Post by: seamonkey on August 25, 2011, 02:53:08 PM Yes, I came back later and it was working.
You are a very brave soul starting the bid at .99. The floppies themselves aren't cheap. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - New freebies for forum members. Post by: JMP on August 25, 2011, 03:20:55 PM No-one can moan they aren't worth the price if they bid up from a quid. ;)
The day the cost of the disks and my time making them isn't covered, is the day I'll stop listing any on there and stick to SD formats only. Shame there doesn't appear to be much sampling or trading of custom banks these days. Title: Re: EII Sound Swap - New freebies for forum members. Post by: JMP on March 06, 2012, 10:05:54 AM Made up a few this week from a DX21 Synth. Created these back in the 1980's and managed to load them into a DX21 again using the old audio data on tape !
