Title: EII sound library
Post by: RobyMX on November 17, 2010, 03:10:43 PM
Hi all,
I know that the topic was discussed previously, but I want to ask
if the EMU sound library is available only with the OMI CDs or there
are other means to access / purchase the library.
I don't know where to purchase the OMI CDs, and I don't know also
why the sound library isn't freely available like, for example, the
sound library for the EMAX... There are copyright issues  ????

Thanks
Roby

The first two volumes of OMI CD can still be bought at Q-Up-Arts (mail them).
The third volume is not for sale on CDROM anymore, but still on floppy disks at Northstar.
This material is still copyrighted.

The EMU factory library could be ordered from Rob at www.emulatorarchive.com; on the same CDROM a quite huge selection of OMI and even other production sets could be found too.
It's unclear if he still sells the material, but I think he does.

I think the Emax library is still copyrighted, but the fact that it is available for free download on some websites that have nothing to do with E-Mu/Creative, *could* indicate that E-Mu/Creative doesn't mind anymore about violating the copyright... nevertheless it's still officially illegal. As far as I know they simply don't reply on any request or question about copyrights of that old material. This *could* be a way of E-Mu/Creative to tell us "be silent and just copy it". But it could also mean that they don't want to put effort into answering these questions while at the same time not agreeing with the free downloads... and perhaps "just" for now not taking any legal action yet.
