Title: EmaxI Plus with blue OLED
Post by: Freddy on May 31, 2013, 09:36:17 AM
Just for your interest and inspiration ... Blue OLEDs are now available - 10 times better than the (new) el-foil I had before!
If you're able to solder (or know someone), I would definitely recommend you to do that...

I cannot upload a photo here, since the folder is full...

Looks great!  Can you share the manufacturer and part number of the display?

Hi,

I bought the WINSTAR WEH001602ABPP5N00000 16x2 OLED Blue on Black

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WINSTAR-WEH001602ABPP5N00000-16x2-OLED-Blue-on-Black-LCD-Display-Module-572316-/120984411634?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item1c2b3b9df2

Shipping to Germany was 6,95pounds. If you're in America you should try to find other sources as shipping might be expensive from GB.

Mind you that unlike it is shown in the picture the solder pads are not in parallel on the left but in one row above the display (at least with mine) so you need to solder 14 small wires which shouldn't be a problem though.
My picture couldn't catch the brightness and the contrast and especially in a dark environment it's amazing how crystal clear it is. No comparision to the new el foil I used before..
I never wanted to buy OLEDs as long I could get only green and yellow ones as -imo- these coulours don't look nice on an Emax...

Hope this helps, if not, just ask..
