Title: HxC SD Install - what extra bits might I need?
Post by: punkdisco on June 18, 2014, 05:49:32 AM
Hi all – first post.

I have ordered the below for my lovely Emulator II+HD:

1)   HxC SD 3 ½ drive
2)   3 ½ to 5 ¼ case adapter
3)   32gb SDHC card

Question: will I need anything else for the install?  In particular, will the HXC reader need any additional cables or will it just be plugging into the cables that are orphaned when I remove the 5 ¼ drive?

Im hoping the drive will be with me for the weekend and it will be a bugger if Im missing some bits..

Ta,

Actually, it looks like my questions are covered in the manual on this page:

http://www.emxp.net/HXC.htm

Its looking like I will be lucky to have all the bits in place for the weekend.  Think I will open up the Emulator tonight to try and predict what additional bits I will need.

thanks all - will let you know how I get on..

you'll probably have to make a new cable. easiest and best way in my opinion. the ribbon cable inside the e2 is just a wee bit too short so some sort of extension would be needed at minimum if installing in top bay. adaptors and extenders exist but are a bit hard to track down.

I luckily live in silicon valley and parts are somewhat easy to get. i would be willing to build one if you need but it would take a while to get to you.

Thanks for the info and kind offer to make a cable.  I will be okay once I open up the Emu and SE what it is I need (and the length).  From there I will do some hard-core google-ing and worst case,I can also attempt to make one.

Thanks once again..
