Hello,
As my EIII is open and the leds are working I tested the LED module:
Quick test on PCB solders. If the module is switched off (led off) all 4 pins have a 0V current. Switched on, I can read 1.74V DC on pin 2 and 4 (neutral on pin 1 - 1st at left). Note that my PS is calibrated at 5V.
If you have the same reading when ON, the led should probably light up if the new led is of a correct specs and seated in the right direction. If you changed the led itself but not its socket I would try comparing the voltage at PCB with what's going out of the socket. problem may be oxydation/bad contact within the socket.
If the PCB reading is not the same, I would search for an oxydation on the PCB tracks as this one is more exposed to moisture.
Otherwise if your 60pin ribbon is OK, the schematics indicate that leds are driven from the main CPU but that would be a different story.
Hope this helps.

Hello from Belgium,
First of all, congratulations to all of you maintaining this forum, an incredible resource!
I started my journey with E-mu samplers in the 90s (Emax), and later I had the opportunity to buy an EIII keyboard. Unfortunately, my activities (studies, bass playing, life...) prevented me from spending time on the EIII, and it remained in my attic for more than 20 years.
A few weeks ago, I decided to restart it. After a deep cleaning of the contacts, reseating the boards and a few components (everything went pretty well), I was able to access my old banks, but the hard drive had a few bad sectors and all my floppies were unreadable. So I installed a new SCSI2SD and now I am enjoying EIII banks that are easily available nowadays.
I am really motivated to make it 100% functional so here I am with a few questions... and this forum is encouraging, I hope I can find some help. Please note that I have a BSc in computing, but I am not versed in electronics.
All the best!

do i understand correctly in the link you posted, that - it needs an internal hd to get the zulu recognized? ses (btw, the previous owner told me, at the time they had heir 3 modified at E-MU for "a delay of one of the SCSI busses") - and secondly, that there is a general (display black bars only) problem with the zulu MINI?
thanks
_______
EDIT
weird, when i put the (fat32 formatted) card with the EMXP image , renamed as suggested to HD1.img, in the ZuluMini, then the Zulu blinks 3x = no image recognized.

thanks, yeah, i've seen your thread before. Since there are are various files on EMXP, which one exactly was it the EIII could boot from? And was the card just a blank fat32 card? (mine is 16gb = too big? )
The store i bought my Zulu Mini from told me, it has to be the typical ZULU .h01 etc file, so i've been wondering how you did it.
thanks!
