Extract EII File fron an HFE File?

I assume the .HFE format is some kind of wrapper and deep inside is the EII file.  How does one extract the EII "essence" from an HFE file?

You can convert .hfe files to "raw" images with the HxC software.
As far as I remember the software always gives these raw image files an .img extension.
If you replace this extension with .emufd, the .eii bank file can be extracted from it with EMXP (copying emulator ii floppy image files to emulator ii bank files)

Small correction: the extension should be replaced by .emuiifd
(.emufd is the extension for emulator-1 disk images...)

Finally had time to try this today and am happy to report it worked!  I set the HXC software to "RAW - RAW sectors file format" and it converted the .hfe file to a .img just as Esynthesist said it would.  I replaced the .img extension with .emuiifd and used the EMXP software to make an EII file.
