Hello!

What is the latest Mac to run SD for EII? I have powerbook 180 with macos 7.5 and its working perfectly, but LCD is dying, so I`m thinking of buying something new. Most of the 1XX series powerbooks that on ebay now, have the same issue - LCD is gone, time have no mercy ) So question is, will it work on G3 with macos 8, or what is the latest powerbook to get for it?

Regards,
Kirill

If I remember well, SD for EII does not work on System 8 or later; but this is most probably caused by the hardware of the Mac computers on which System 8 or later was typically installed. I think the issue is caused by the RS422 ports and the way they are accessed (with low level calls) by the SD software. Even some older Macs running OS 7.x couldn't run SD for EII successfully neither due to hardware differences with e.g. PB 180s, Mac SE or Mac Classic computers...

Anyway, the Emulator-II group on Yahoo hosted a database in which users could log which setup worked with SD for EII.
Here's a dump in CSV format, the first line is the header and the other lines contain different proven setups.I If you copy it into a spreadsheet program like Excel you can convert it to separate columns with the text-to-column function  Smiley
