Hello everyone.
Happy owners of an EIII for a long time, I decided to upgrade it to 8mega a month ago. there was no shortage of it, I sample all my synth/mono to have polyphony with my synth/mono. so I updated my EIII to 8 mega. everything is fine, the RAM test also passes. So I burned the emu CD-ROM images and the classic collection of the EIII bank into CD-ROM which contains 8mega banks. I thought it would be nice to load them now, but no, some 8mega CD-ROM banks don't load them. "script error". The 4mega banks work perfectly.
Why can't I load an 8mega bank even though the upgrade is good and well installed?
Banks of E-MU Classic Series Vol. 7 are all intended for the EIII, but the 8mega banks do not load.
Has this ever happened to any of you? Is this a known problem?
I can't even load a preset without loading the whole bank.
Can someone help me.
Thank's of All

Are you sure that it is a E3 and not a E3X bank?

Hi Janub

Its not enough with the 8 Mb ram upgrade. You also need to upgrade one or two PAL chips. As I recall you also need IP376 & IP377 to make use of the maxed out ram.

Good morning,
Thank you all for your responsiveness. This forum is a bomb for us EMUers.
I upgraded the two PALs delivered with the RAM for my EIII.
Everything goes well when I run the test in the hidden menu 1358
RAM TEST OK But nothing to do the 8mega bank does not fit in the EIII.
My upgrade kit is that of a very serious Allemand guy who made a kit ready to be installed.

It seemed to me that this series of CDROMs was compatible with the EIII. There are 4mega banks and 8mega banks in this CD-ROM.
The 4mega banks work perfectly but the 8mega banks do not load (Um!)

This CDROM was made especially for the EIII in the early 90s. Everything was done by a Frenchman on an EMUIII.
Everyone wanted this CDROM because the sound was so classy and well the same I can't download it because there are only 8mega banks in it. While it was designed on the EIII

CD ROM very sought after here in France. I got it from Laurent Garnier who had this CD-ROM and he sold it to me with others. If anyone is interested, I can provide a .cue
And if anyone has any information on this publication I'm interested.
Not being able to read it in my EIII
Sniff!

It won`t show 8 mb without new PALs...

Those CD are for E3 and E3X, and E3 won`t load E3X banks, you will get "not enough memory" error...

Hello everyone. Thank you for your responses.
To answer @Deft, I did change the two PALs that had to be changed at the same time as the RAM. The two PALs are well installed in my EIII in addition to the RAM kit supplied with it. So normally I should use all 8MG RAM.
It seems to me that there were only 2 PALs to change RAS PAL (IP376) and Address PAL (IP377).
So everything is good. RAM test pass OK.
So I don't understand why the 8Mega banks don't load in my EIII which has the 8mega installed.

With this CDrom specially edited and built on an EIII the 8Mega banks do not pass. Which is not normal.

I`ve already told you, EIII wont load E3X banks, they have a different format, cause E3X have digital processing chips. Use EMXP to convert.
