Hi,
I'm in the process of repairing my recently acquired EIII. For that reason I checked some online sources and found this amazing group. I read almost every thread and verified everything that has ever been mentioned here:
My problem seems to be dead simple, but I simply cannot find a solution for it:
My EIII doesn't boot. It just goes through every SCSI and FD channel without any reaction. The floppy drive does not make the typical FD noise that indicates that it is about to access the floppy.
1) Removed the dirt of 25 years from its in and outside
2) Made sure the cards are properly seated
3) Adjusted the PSU to 5.05V.
4) Cleaned the 8 SIMMs and interchanged them.
5) Also cleaned the Molex, ribbon cable and PCB connectors (of course by the aid of contact cleaner)
6) Installed an old but working Seagate HD taken from a MAC.
7) Used a new floppy drive and new floppies. I also took a working WD1772 chip from another keyboard.
Eight) Replaced the crappy HCT240 chip
That didn't change anything. For that reason I had another look at the CPU board.
Can someone do me a small favour and confirm me that the PCB modification has to look like this. I somewhere read E-mu had some infield problems.
In particular this small solder bridge looks dubious (next to the damaged wire).
Thank you very much.
If you have any hint for me or even a link, Please let me know!!
