Is this possible?  has anyone done it?  Would this be a bad thing for any reason?

sense there are a lot of samples usually stored on a 5.25 floppy disk you might need to purchase an oberheim dpx-1 to convert them all to 3.5 (i'm assuming it can do this with EII format?)

If you have a Mac, it can maybe (has to be tried) even possible to do it with Alchemy by MIDI transfer or RS422.

I've been usind an EII with dual 3.5 drives with no problems (apart from the time it's taken to transfer everything over from 5.25!). The DPX-1 only saves to DPX format 3.5" disks - not EII format 3.5" disks, so I don't think that's an option. SD transfers from a Mac is the way to go.

That's right.
But .. I didn't know that it's possible to have an EII that also boots from 3,5"...

The dual 3.5" has been working for me for over 10 years, and I've yet to experience any problems with the high density 3.5" disks - which are technically unsuitable as double density substitutes apparently; but covering the HD hole so that the EII drive sees it as a DD disk seems to be working still.
