I just recently bought a non working SP12 Turbo

I fixed it up, so that it works perfectly now (Bad Ram IC + a few other faults) , but now I've got one question for SP12 owners.

Can you monitor the sample while recording etc?

Sometimes on mine, the signal can be heard, but then it fades away etc.. other times, it's just barely heard in the background and thin + distorted.

Cheers
Mike

I think you cannot monitor the sample input.

That does seem very odd.. I can understand no sampling input, but to have a sometimes working sampling input seems very odd.

I'll have a look at the schematics, but I can't imagine it would be too hard to implement on the SP12.. worst case scenario would be an op-amp, best case a resistor taking the signal from after the gain stage to the main output.

I did find that Forat can do this mod for the SP12 & SP1200.. I'm sure it's not going to be too tricky. I'll report back.

(Also, any reason we don't have a SP1200 & SP12 section here?)

Good Point.
I think the reason is, that the SP-12 was originally called Drumulator II..
