I just bought an "Emax II" that looks to be a mash-up of two machines. The front panel is labeled as an Emax II, and it displays that it's an Emax II on the LCD screen. The top/back panel are painted grey and it says "Emax" on the back panel. The serial number on the back says it's a Model #1021, with a serial number os "10P687".
It has a SCSI connector on the bottom side of the rear panel, below the MIDI jacks, but on the bottom, black painted part of the rear panel. It's fitted with an IBM WDS-3160, 160MB HD.
The digital board inside says: E-MU SYSYTEMS, INC EMAX2 CPU PCB PC353 REV. B 890428
The analog board says: E-MU SYSYTEMS, INC. EMAX2 ANALOG PCB (C) 1988 PC352 REV. A 890427
It looks like the boards were probably from the same EmaxII, but the top cover was swapped from an original Emax.
Anyone have a mismatched cover on their EmaxI that wants to trade? ;^)
