Hi you,

after getting a CD with WA-  Samples and using an Apple CD 300 for the first time, my E III k wo´nt start up from the internal HD. Starting from Floppy no Problem. Tried to set up the system on HD, nothing other happens. Must i format the HD?

I´ve bought an ST 51080N and put it in, but then he wo´nt start up from any medium. Can someone tell me, how the pins have to be set?

kind regards

Sounds like a SCSI ID conflict with the CD300.

Hi MiDIPUPPIES,

the problem is yet without the CD 300. Once used for taking the soundbanks onto internal HD and then disconnectetd. Since then i´m having these problems.

Hi,

my working ST 51080N (inside EIII and EIIIX) is set up as follows:

--SCSI ID 4
--remote start disabled
--parity enabled
--termination enabled
--receive power from drive power connector

So before you got the CD300 did your EIII boot from it's internal HD or have you always had to boot from floppy?
If you always had to boot from floppy but the internal HD was spinning and recognized then yes I would say you need to reformat and install the O.S. on it.
On the other hand, if your EIII does not see it on the SCSI bus then chances are good that it is defective. The EIII will boot from floppy with a defective HD. If the HD SCSI bus is terminated (even a bad HD will do this). I just don't see how plugging in a cd rom drive would alter any SCSI settings or trash your hard disk.
