Hi everyone.

My soldering expert spent this evening trying to install a Newhaven NHD-0420DZW-AY5 on my E3k, and everything is ok apart from the first row of characters (to the left - vertically) - the display won't show the first piece of digit on each line - please view the attached picture for verification.
Also, if you look, you'll see some errors, especially at the beginning of 'empty'; again, please view.
We've kept the third jumper disconnected as we're aware that this was connected to the contrast, and this being an OLED install, there's no need!

One last thing, on the screen we took off, there were two wires connected at the side (A1 was one of them), and I can't recall the other - should these have stayed on?

Any help with this would be absolutely amazing, and I wish you all a happy Easter too.

Many thanks.
Stephen

Clean the space between the soldered connection!
Be sure that there is no connection between it.

Hello.

Well, we did as you requested - chipped away all possible flux between all connections, cleaned everything over with iso alcohol, and still this problem persists.

We are out of ideas!

I'm gonna have to send the board off to a qualified physician for remedy.

Thanks again for your help.

Truly appreciated.

"A1" would stand for Address 1... What do you mean by "wires connected at the side (A1 was one of them" ?
I believe more in a display input capacitance problem. Let me know please...

Hello, Dr, and thank your for your reply!

May I refer you to: http://eiiiforum.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=bbssgl3q0f84tofodn4eocjse4&topic=2168.0

Have a browse down to a post from Antenne, who wrote:

I have it working in my EIII KB now.
As stated it fits perfectly -
The new display has 16 connector pads as opposed the old one's 14
- just connect 1-14 ( except 3 - contrast, leave that unconnected )
The old display had two extra wires connected, just desolder them from the front panel pcb.

These are the two cables I'm referring to..

Also, I turned the OLED around 180 degrees, and the problem with missing and corrupted characters is now residing on the other side - I'm now suspecting a possible fault with the OLED?

Thanks again for your reply.
