Hi All,

I am in need of some help.  I have owned this EMAX for about 20 years.  I probably used it once or twice.  At the time I was an SP12 user.  I have sold the SP long ago and pulled tis out of storage.  I would love to get up up and running with macOS.  I believe it has been upgraded to an SE but am not sure.  How can I tell which OS is on it now?  The floppy drive is unreliable and the spring is worn out and no longer easily ejects disks.  What upgrades are available to get this back in the studio?  Thank you in advance.

You can tell the OS by booting it up, going into the MASTER -> SPECIAL Menu and scroll all the way up. Then it displays the OS Version.

Regarding the upgrades, here are a few buzz words, which you can look for on this forum, on the www in general and in some really active facebook groups as these have been discussed several times:

SCSI Upgrade (if necessary: http://eiiiforum.com/index.php?topic=3793.0), SCSI2SD v6, new sliders, new OLED, check 5v rail on the Power Supply, recap or replace entirely if you have a bad feeling about it, reseat and clean the IC if you want to to be 100% sure.

Have a look at these files and links which are a good start for your questions: https://www.cyborgstudio.com/e-mu-emax-se

Thank you Freddy, much appreciated.  My EMAX is running EMAX SE rev 1.1 .  I just ordered the parts for the EMuSer and am looking forward to running SMAX and EMXP.  Both Kris and Wolfram have been very helpful.
