Does anyone know the history of EIII firmware revisions? Mine states that it is V2.0.

No, not the O.S. right when you power on it says firmware 2.0 for a second or two.

I believe that the firmware is the stuff that resides on the EPROMS.

You can download the EPROM images from my blog here:
http://dvdborn.blogspot.com/2006/01/old-synths-and-eproms-while-ago-my.html#links

If you know somebody with an EPROM burner he/she can burn them for you.

I don't know if the EPROMs are the only thing that changed with the new firmware. It could well be that the firmware needs specific hardware to function.
