How to Care for Building Materials

Taking care of the elements used in your creations is important to making them stay functional. Whether youre handling wood, stone, metal, or other elements, knowing how to correctly preserve them can save time and money in the long run.

For wood resources, especially outdoors, regular treatment and sealing are important to shielding them from dampness and rot. Applying a wood cleaner and coating with sealant every few years will help the durability of decks, fences, or wooden furniture. Avoiding direct contact with soil or standing water can also stop rot over time.

Stone elements, like pavers or pathways, may seem durable, but they still demand attention. Regular cleaning and spraying down dirt can maintain them clean, and sealing the stone can help splitting or fading from sun exposure. For plant growth buildup, a mild cleaner and brush can return them looking clean again.

Metal, commonly employed in outdoor furniture or fixtures, can rust if not correctly cared for. Regularly applying a protective coating or using rust-proof paint can ensure metal in strong condition. For smaller items, easily polishing them and storing them during harsh weather can stop corrosion.

By spending a little time to preserve these materials, you can guarantee that your endeavors remain functional appealing and practical for years to come. Regular attention, along with using high-quality materials, will save you from needing to make pricey repairs or replacements in the future.

Hi! Is it possible to boot emax + hd without connecting floppy drive or gotek? I?ve installed scsi2sd, and it works perfectly, but emax hangs on diagnostics when i disconnect fdd. I dont want to put the fdd inside simply to bypass this startup test...

Regards,
Kirill

51 years old , My main job is FOH engineer. I also mix & master for bands with high class gear (Manley , Crane Song ...).
That being said my original passion is synths & samplers.
My ears during all this time has been trained to all sort of "analytic" listening.
But ... It is still a mystery to me : When I sample & play with my modified E3XP (now with analog inputs) every sound feels more organic , I can hear some frequency changes (much low end depending on the source materials) but there is some kind of voodoo inside Rossum boxes !
Does it come from converters ? Transpose algos?
Feel free to comment , I am curious to hear some experts or just aficionados of the brand.

Again. The GeoPort is a different concept of the serial interface which is not compatible with the EII communication.

Do you have a modern Mac with macOS 10.10 or higher?

Thank you Wolfram!  It sounds like you have tried using the EII with the 9600 and ran into the problem you described?

As for the E3, is there any point in trying to get it working with the 9600 and Alchemy, for example?  I've never used any Mac sample editing software from the period.

SoundDesigner EII communication will not work on this Mac.
The 9600 is a powerMac G3 and it has a GeoPort. The GeoPort is a different concept of the serial interface which is not compatible with the EII communication.

I have an old Apple 9600/300 and was thinking about hooking it up to my EII and EIII.  The mac won't boot, so I have some troubleshooting to do and am wondering if it even worth the effort.  Are programs like SoundDesigner, Alchemy, etc.  useful today with the EII and EIII?
