EMXP - Creating EIII CD-Roms with Subdirectories??

Hi all, especially E-Synthesist!

Recently, I re-gathered the OMI Libraries, so I got zip disks for my EII with either all OMI Synths, or all OMI Drumsets, or all OMI-Strings, et cetera. Each family of instruments got their own zip disk, so it's easier to browse through if I'm searching for a special sound.

My question:
I'd like to create a CD-Rom for the EIII featuring the converted EII OMI banks with EMXP. I'd really like to sort all the banks, so I was wondering, if it's possible to create subdirectories on such a CD-Rom (Synths, Strings, etc.) or a workaround maybe.

Any ideas?

I'm very interested in this as well.

I don't recall browsing within directories with the EIII.  I was always in one directory I believe just browsing thru all the banks

What exactly are you looking for ?
The EIII (and Emax/Emax-II) doesn't support folders in its hard disk file index table.
So creating native EIII cdroms containing folders through which you can browse on the EIII is impossible.
Is that what you were looking for ??

This would of course have been a nice feature; that's why I mentioned in one of my messages that it is strange that the OMS-3 system for Emulator II supported the "folder" method, while this feature didn't survive on later Emu models like Emax and EIII.

In fact the index table *does* provide a field in which categories *could* have been assigned (like the OMS-3 index system); this field however is only being used for indicating whether a file on the disk is a sound bank, a temporary file or an operating system.

Professional EmuIII CD compilers tend to use "blank" banks in between the "real" banks to indicate the category of banks that will follow. E.g. bank 00 is empty but its bankname is "SYNTHS". Then banks 01 to 10 are synth banks. The 11th bank is again a "blank" bank, this time named "WOOD", followed by banks 12 to 15 which are wood wind instruments. And so on. You probably know this technique as (as far as I remember) it is also used on the Emu factory library cd-roms.
This method *could* be supported by EMXP although it will not be the easiest thing to implement, mainly because it requires a more interactive user interface... (and NO, I'm not going to add a GUI to EMXP  )

Yes, that's exactly what I want(ed) to do....   

Nevermind, I'll dedicate a CD-Rom to each family of instruments.
