Hi!

I read that Kris has a Zip drive as well as a CD Rom drive connected to his EIII. I also bought mine with all that stuff, but I can't get my CD ROM drive working. Don't know what I'm doing wrong, I got it terminated as the last piece in my SCSI Chain, but it's not being recognized by the EIII. My Zip's recognized at once (when CD ROM is disconnected). I got most of the Original Library CDRoms, so I would really like to be able to read them.

Any tips?

Hi Elmbeatz,

I'm also using a Zip drive and a CD-ROM with my EIII. I've got the CD-ROM first in the chain and then the ZIP drive with its terminator button on.

First of all, make an inventory of your SCSI ID's. The following devices have a SCSI ID:
EIII, internal hard drive, zip drive and CD-ROM.

They all need to have different ID's.

If this is the case and you still can't use the CD-ROM then your drive probable isn't compatible with the EIII. I had to try several CD-ROM drives before settling with an early Apple model that came out of a PowerPC 7500.

Have you also tried the CD-ROM drive without the ZIP-drive?

David

Yeah, I also tried it that way. In fact I tried every imaginable connection  Huh
Maybe the drive isn't compatible, but it came with the EIII, so.....

Greetz,
Elm.
