Hey all!
I need a replacement floppy drive for my EIIIXP. Rout66 are out of stock. I was wondering if there is a specific make/model I need.
Also, can the EIIIXP boot from a zip100? If so, does anyone have a boot up zip disk they can sell me?
Thank you!
Karl.

PS:
route66studios.com had them custom made, and now they're sold out.

Hi,
I have 3 in stock, they are out of EIV and E64 zip drive conversions and have very little use due to scsi operation.
They also work in EIII and EIIIXP/XS, its a special make from sony and I think not available any more.
I guess they were only made for E-MU. They have E-MU p/n ZM355 and come with ribbon cable E-MU p/n AC378
Can offer each €30 + €7 worldwide shipping incl. tracking no.
Afaik the EIIIXP can also boot from zip or hdd, you can download the manual from www.theemus.com

Good luck

Hi

Did you find a new floppy drive for your E3X?

Otherwise I have a few new ones.

Used to have 15 of them but I'm down to two now (and keeping one for any future projects of mine).

The drive is original Sony as used by Emu (black front)

you can mail me direct on

FYI: issue resolved. There was nothing wrong with the floppy (!!!)...I have NO IDEA what the problem was, but it's fixed....(??)
THe EIIIXP also boots A-OK from a ZIP100 and it's internal HD.
*** Email me if you need boot-up floppies or ZIP100 drives! I have some serious Emu karma to pay off...!

Hi
I have tried to boot from my HD and it simply will not do it. I don't get it.
I did everything the manual says and no luck. I can only boot from floppy Disk.

I formatted the HD and made a blank bank and put a copy of the software to the HD. Also tried vice versa but no luck.

How do You guys get it to work?
Maybe I should try my zip drive, but what is the method to get either the hd to work or the zip drive. I'll rather not format my HD now since I have sounds on it.

Cheers
Jens

Hello,

I put a SCSI to Compact flash put in my EIIIX and it work well.
I try with a CF 8Gb does't work, but with a CF 1 Gb It work well, and it boot on it.
http://www.artmix.com/CF_AztecMonster.html (You can find it on Ebay is easier to buy it)

my SCSI chain:
0 EIII
1 EIII CF internal (boot)
2 EIIIX CF internal (boot)
3 cd-rom external
4 SyQuest 200Mb external
5 MO 230 Mo external
7 EIIIX

the SCSI A (up) of EIIIX is termined with activ terminator.

I can see all devices with both sampler and, I can put banks directly sampler to sampler both directions.

I have been having a hard time getting my eiiixs to play nice with a external zip 100 or a 2 gigbyte jaz drive. The zip just hangs when I try to format and the jaz will format in 5 secs but give errors and lock up. I have the id#s set correctly, using short cables and terminated both ends while applying termination power from the drives. I have an ancient micropolis hard drive array and one of the drives still works with the eiiixs when plugged in.
